Graduated licensing-
2. Your assignment is to write a type 3 paper on "Graduated Licensing". Your FCA's are: 1) explain what the Vermont Graduated License Law is all about, 2) Express in your own words how you feel about the law and would you suggest any changes to the law, 3) correct spelling and grammar. Graduated Licensing is a law that requires teens 15 to 18 to learn to drive in stages. It's used for saving lives and reducing injuries.
Stage 1- Learner's permit- You have to be 15, You have to have it for a year before you can get your license, You can only drive if your with a parent, driver ed teacher, or someone 25 with a license.
Stage 2- Juniors Operator's License- For 16 or 17 years of age, you have to pass drivers, 40 hours of practice driving, clean drivers record for 6 months,pass road test, you can not have more people then seat belts, you can't drive for a job, first 3 months you can only drive alone or with the people you can drive with when you have your permit, after 3 months you can have family, and 6 months you can have anyone you want with you.
Stage 3- Operators License- You can get this when your 18.

Part 2- I think that these laws are good because if you are under 16, and you don't take a class then you have no experience. They would cause more problems on the road and more people would die a year. I think that it's good that you can't have anyone in the car for 6 months because that gives you time to focus on the things you just learned in drivers ed, and you're not distracted by your friends. Graduated licensing gives teens more time to get good habits. I also think it's good that you have to be 15 to get a permit because if you were any younger then you wouldn't be as mature. You would do whatever you wanted and that wouldn't be good at all. I think it's good that you have to have 40 hours of driving practice because that gives you a lot more time to get to know the habits, so that you don't have to think about them they just happen. Later on you can have your friends in the car and still do everything the right way and not get in big trouble or get killed.
