You follow these steps

• See light in target area
• see red light as a closet front zone
• check rear zone
• alert rear-tap brakes
• begin constant braking
• time arrival into open zone
• at 10 mph, go or stop
• green light- search intersection
• red light- stop smoothly

thats how you time your arrival at a green light.
