Your first assignment for the next class will be to use the news feeds in this blog and find an article that pertains to traffic safety and post it to your blog and write a short reaction summary to the article. You will need to copy and paste your article to your post.

The second assignment is to choose 3 numbers between 1-62, then 3 numbers between 63-150 and 3 numbers between 150-223. Once you have the numbers chosen go to pages 52-54 in the your car is a monster book and find what risks are associated with your numbers. Post these 9 risks and describe your thoughts on whether a crash could occur while driving with these 9 risks. Could any of these risks been eliminated or minimized to avoid a collision?


First assignment-

Car hits deer on Interstate 91

BRATTLEBORO -- A car sustained moderate front end damage after hitting a deer on Interstate 91 last Friday.

According to Vermont State Police, Paul Maddem, 51, of Brattleboro, was driving north when a deer crossed in front of him. The deer was hit, but not located after the collision. Maddem's car had to be towed from the scene.



Summary-
On Friday the 15th a older man hit a deer on the highway in Brattleboro. It never said anything about the man getting hurt, but it did say that he had to fix something on his car. It was really scary when I hit a bat and I think that it would be a lot scarier to hit a deer that is so much bigger then a bat. Im scared of hitting things.


Second assignment-
1) #15-Broken windshield- Yes, because it would be very distracting. Yes, you could get it fixed before you drive it again.
2)#29-No air bag-No, Because your air bags go off after you get in an accident. Yes, you could get them put in or get a new car that has air bags.
3)#36-Doors not locked-Yes, If someone opened the door when you were driving you could get distracted and that could cause a crash. Yes, lock all the doors when you get in the car before moving.
4) #70-Happy hour- Yes, if the person that was driving was drinking during the happy hour. Yes, get a DD, the person that is driving doesn't drink.
5) #94- drinking beer- Yes, they could be yelling or doing stupid things and if you try to make them stop then you could get in a car crash. Yes, dont let people drink in your car when your driving.
6)#145-no safty belts used-Yes, people could be moving around the car and you caould be looking at them and not at the road. Yes, have them wear the safty belts and if they dont want to then have them find another ride.
7) #165-narrowing of lanes-Yes, if theres a big truck on the other side of the road and you have to move over you could go off the road. No, honk the horn so they will move over.
8)#215- child running into roadway- Yes, you could hit the child. Yes, you could slow down and stop to wait for them to get out of the road, honk the horn so that they know your there.
9)#221-rollerblader in travel lane-Yes, you could because you could hit them. Yes, stop until they are out of your path of travel.
